I don't think the DJ kits that come with pipes are the same needle as just buying a DJ jet kit alone. From my understanding, DJ came out with this newer version of needle about 4yrs ago, previously DJ needles were 5 groove, now 6 groove, they are also also almost duplicate in diameter to the Barons,at least this is info I received from a very reliable source. however, DJ needle is shorter than the Barons by the thickness of one washer. It may not seem like a lot, but even 1 washer can make a difference in performance.
