fixed the carb.. 2 Years, 8 Months ago
After many posts here in the past week i had finally got enough info to take my carb apart..again..its about the 50th time this week..so i put in the new needle/seat..the stock one..and the flooding stopped..i pulled the top off and i had the clip on the 4th notch with 1 washer and the spacer underneath..i moved the clip to the 3rd notch with the washer and spacer under it to lean it out some on the primary circuit.I took my girl out for a ride saturday and it ran the best it ever has..no smoke behind me..no hesitation..no fuel pump, stock needle/seat..hit the rev limiter many times and no gas starvation problems..i had vented my tank before so the flow seems to be keeping up with the carb..i will put the grizzly valve in when it gets here, but man...it was GREAT to get back on the road again !! Mike

Thanks,Curt..ive been working carbs for decades but not one of these..the info you put up on your site is a must for anyone doing the intake porting mod and or carb work.. Docshadow and some other folks here also explain in detail how to work with the makuni 40.. awesome stuff folks.. btw,the pms adjustment is still an issue but i set it 2 1/2 turns out and will leave it there for now..

2 1/2 turns out is a good thing if it runs good and idles good leave it there. If you have to mess with it just do real fine adjustments 1/8 turns in or out.
