Mikuni 42 question 1 Year, 7 Months ago
OK I see Mikuni 42's on sale all over the place, mostly listed as for HD's. Question is which one is the right one and are there differences or is there only one 42 model? Bit confusing. I do know that some people sell them for a whole lot more than others.

prices I see are all over the board and that always makes me a bit leery of what is exactly right. I've done a bunch of business with Hellriser so may give them a call.

The only differences may be ...

- Jets
- Adaptor plates
- Air cleaner
- Cables

I looked for the cheapest deal. Mine was listed for a Sportster.

Post ebay links and we can look them over/

Re:Mikuni 42 question 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I figured I'd have to deal with the adaption of it to our Roadie (adapter plate, air filter and cables) but more concerned that I end up with the right carb. I'm also torn on TPS whether I should do it or not.
I'll dig up a couple I'm looking at (if they are still there) and post them.

There is a sticky on the HSR in the Carb Forum

You don't need an adaptor or air filter. You can also get away using the stock cables. You should use the TPS but the adaptor would be easy for you to make.

I don't know the full stock numbers that Mikuni uses to differentiate between the sportsters and the big v-twin models. I just am aware of the difference in pilot jet size and the pump nozzle. The sportster comes with a 20 pilot jet and a 60 pump nozzle, the v-twin with a 25 pilot and a 70 pump nozzle. If you get your intake completely sealed, I find the 70 nozzle is just to big, about 90% of those I know with the 42 use the 50 pump nozzle.
