Pipes yellowing after 1 week! 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Well, here it is. I put V&H Longshots HS on my 07 Roadstar last week. I still have my stock air filter and the AIS is still installed. I just checked my pipes and they are yellowing from the engine to the first bend. The bike is running good. No backfiring at all. A little sputtering on deceleration but I figure that is because of the AIS. So what should I do. Rejet?. PMS Adjustment? Something else? I know R* runs rich from the factory. Is that the problem?

I have the same pipes and the same problem. Yellow right where the seem is under the rear boards. My dealer who is a friend of mine says that just about all the longshots he has seen have done this. Also I see alot of harleys with the same problem and a guy that I work with has a vulcan with the same pipes and same problem. I think its a problem with the pipes.

I have 12000 miles on my pipes and didn't see any yellowing until 2 weeks ago. I've been having to drive a detour to get to work that is gravel and I got lazy and stopped at a car wash a couple of times and the yellowed. I always washed it at home with the garden hose and the bike cold. I think the hot pipes and water caused it.

the long shots have a heat shield on the front section but not the back(just behind the rear cylinder). it's at that joint where the yellowing is advisably occurring.

My pipes are yellowing from the header to the bend. The pipes are yellowing not the heatshield. Does anyone know the cause so I can fix it before it gets worse?

Coloring of the pipes in your case is normal....thats why the heat shield is there to cover the discolored pipes...

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2007/07/27 12:37
