The bowl holds next to nothing in the way of fuel. When you replace the needle and seat to a larger one, it allows unrestricted flow to the bowl, keeping it from starving itself. Most who try to skip the N/S upgrade end up having to go back and do it anyway to keep it from starving at high speed. BB

Well thanks for all the info. I'd love to dump the fuel pump just because I hate anything that doesn't need to be there. Quickest (and cheapest) performance enhancement has always been to cut weight. I've dumped upwards of 30 pounds of ugly iron off of my Roadie so far and more to go. I'll probably try it without doing the needle and seat due to the fact I rarely do high speeds or wide open and very little freeway riding. Most of mine is up in the hills on country roads around the wine country and coastline.

Just a question. I just bought a '07 Roadie getting ready for some pipes and stuff. But when you are taking about AIS can I ask what that is?
I'm sure it's something simple just can't lock on to it.

Welcome top the Clinic DC
The AIS is basically an air pump that pumps air into the exhaust to help burn the gases better to help meet EPA regs. You can go to the tech tips and scroll down to AIS and it explains about taking it off.

Thanks for the repley Musky. Checked it out doesn't seem to hard to remove. Sure I'll have more questions down the road.
