Well Doc, you are da man. I inserted the #170 and it performed great and the WOT was closer than ever before- no complaints. I may try the #167.5 tomorrow and re-post. I am really ready for Atlanta and that thinner air. What is the equivalent of turns with the MaxPMS if you were using the stock PMS screw? Also, I received an answer on the Pilot Jet confusion from JP Cycles where I ordered the jets. The tech told me that the jets mailed to me were for a HSR42/45 Flat side carb, which explained the #40 and #45 pilot jets being smaller than the #35 pilot jet on a HSR40 CV stock carb. Doc, what do you think?

There are various versions of the MaxPMS out. The best way to set your PMS is with a tach .... set the PMS to the point where you get max revs.
Without a tach, slooooowwwly turn the PMS 1/4 turn at a time and pause for a moment (if you turn to fast you won't notice a difference, then proceed further until the engine begins to stumble. Then counting the number of turns, turn it out slowly until it begins to stumble. Halfway between these two points is your starting point.
The R* pilot is different. If you go to the Tech Tips section you will see some pics of various pilot jets. http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/56/96/

Hello again Doc, I tested the #167.5 main and the bike doesn't seem to run as well as the #170 main- she accelerates ok, but sounds a little different. Also,I also am 3.5+ on the PMS- where can I find a #37.5 pilot jet, because I can't seem to find one anywhere. I think we are very, very close and a #170 main with a #37.5 or #40 pilot might do the trick. Your thoughts?

Sounds reasonable.
The larger pilot should bet the PMS in more.
I've run with a 37.5 pilot with another setup I had. I ordered mine from the Yamaha dealer.

Ok Doc, I am back from Atlanta and the ridin' was awesome. The bike ran great and really strong. I am pretty sure that I need to go up on the pilot, because the poppin' increased some at that elevation. I am ordering a #37.5 and #40 this week and see how it improves. I'll post afterwards.
