Fuel Mileage? 4 Years, 8 Months ago
Hey there guys I could use a little help. I'm somewhat new here, but I've learned quite a lot from reading the posts. I'm getting ready to go on a 1000 mile ride. From Ocala Fl to Blue Ridge Ga and just want to be on the safe side. I have a 05 roadie and the carb is still set up stock with stock air filter, (have adjusted the pms). I also have hard krome 3" big straights with smartpartz baffle inserts. I'm getting about 45 to 47 miles per gallon, does this seem on the lean side? I've heard about WOT and am not sure how this is done. I don't want to get out on the interstate and cruise for long periods of time with a lean condition. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's running okay I'd not worry. I used to get that kind of mileage with a stock setup...since rejetting I am down to 37-40 and pissed...next week I am dropping the 35 (instead of the 37.5) back in...should have just left my 35 alone

Yea Ted, I found out the hard way, that 37.5 is a mileage killer.

Hey there guys thanks for the help. It seems like all of a sudden I'm getting better mileage over the last few tanks. I try to start out with a full tank and fill up at the same station.. But whatever it is I'll take the better mileage. Thanks again for the help!

Cougar, haven't decided which way as yet. I'm traveling with two other guys and we've yet to complete the route. We are leaving about 2:00pm thursday 27 and our wives are leaving on friday. We are traveling until dark up the interstate for time then stop for the night hopefully around Macon. Then take the back roads east of Atlanta (441) up through Madison. Then when we get closer to Blue Ridge maybe take 60 to 76 or 52 to Ellijay then north into Blue Ridge. Is there a better or more senic way?

I love that part of the country. I think you are on the right road as far as being scenic. While up in Blue Ridge, you have to ride along the Ocoee river. Take 5 north out of Blue Ridge over to Mccaysville, then west on 68 towards Ducktown, then West towards Cleveland on 74. You'll love the ride. Be sure to go on a weekend. That's when they release the water. Stop at the Olympic Village. Neat stuff. My wife's parents live in Epworth. Stop by and say hi. Just follow the trail of broke-down cars-in-the-yard. Can't miss it.
