What do you mean it takes forever? How long at what out side temps? Takes me about 5-6 minutes to be riding happy at 70 degrees and up

My * used to cough, sputter and in the winter even die until she was totally warmed up. Turned out to be the factory's overly rich carb settings.

It took awhile to get the jetting just right, but now I pull the enricher all the way out to start her, back in about 40% and take off riding. About 1 mile in summer, a couple in winter and the enricher is all the way off. No more coughing, sputtering or loss of power now.

My mileage is way better too, about 38 city, over 50 highway. No backfire on decelleration either.

If your bike is like my 2005, it's probably jetted too rich and maybe has carboned up, possibly heading towards the dreaded SVS. '05's are well known for SVS problems.

These are just guesses of course since we don't know anything about your bike. There nothing in your profile. You'll find lots of help here, but we'd have to know a lot more about your bikes setup and its carb settings. Hope it helps.

Ratl.

If it's a stock air box, then no, it does not need jetting. Keep in mind a carbed bike will take a bit of time to warm up, regardless of temps the choke needs to be used to richen the start process, then depending on temps will determine how long it will take the engine oil to reach operating temps. with a fuel injected bike, the computer tells the injectors to spray more fuel while the bike is cold, hence the reason FI bikes have no choke.

This isn't an Injected Bike... so no.

My Bike from over night sitting, takes about 90 seconds of running to be able to take off with the choke on.

About a mile before the choke is off completely.

With that said, it still take a *while* before its really warmed up, even in 80-90 degree weather.

100% correct on every count.
unfortunately a lot have this misconception that it should be warmed up in 30sec's or so. But that ain't the case, even in hot weather like you mentioned.
here's my analogy
how long would it take to bring 5qts of motor oil up to 140 deg's on a stove burner?
How long would it take moving parts causing friction to heat the oil to 140 deg's?

get the point. I'm sure you do.
