Gas Leaking from somewhere..HELP 9 Months, 1 Week ago
After my rides lately i've been getting gas overflowing from somewhere around my carbs? I think. I go on the ride, come back. Turn off the bike, grab something to eat, go to turn it back on and when I press the starter it struggles..then gas comes overflowing from somewhere around my carbs, I try again and it starts up but it's followed with a puff of black smoke from my pipes. I was told it may have to do with my carbs just being dirty or it's a sign that I need to replace a few parts on my carbs. Not real sure.

That is carb puking do search on the subject and you will find a lot of threads about. In the mean time shut the petcock off a and run the bike a few minutes before you turn it off and that will help. The gas boils from the heat in the carb and pukes when it is really hot.

I had something kind of similar (but WAY worse) happen recently. Stuck float in the carb. Took it apart, cleaned it up and put it back together and it's again running like a top.

Here's a link to a video of what mine was doing. FUN STUFF!!!!

Mine was doing the same thing last year, thanks to the ethonol gas and its low boiling point. ScottW has a solution for it and it worked for me, may want to give it a shot....

Quick question on the subject. Do fuel injected Road Stars ever have this problem? What year did they start making the fuel Injected Road Stars?

Thx

The only thing that stops the gas from comming out of the carb when it's not running is the needle valve and seat. If their not perfect gas will get by and leak out.

If I'm wrong I'll eat the bugs that I kill with my face.
