slight hesitation or stumble 8 Months, 1 Week ago
hi guys i'm getting a slight stumble or hesitation on a little of throttle on take off or on cruise speed but only on inital throttle on cruise when you let off and then let back on it i checked for a air leaks intake and exhaust but to no avail i'm just wondering if it's because the temps are changing outside. accel pump is set to a little squirt.

curt yes i do have baffles in they are unremovable i just recently down the needle down to the 3 clip with 2 washers under neath and it does it now but before when i had it on 4th clip ran fine but was using alot more gas and the pipes seemed to be muffled down somewhat but now on 3rd clip alot more pickup and go and pipes sound louder hence the problem with the stumble.

thats the #'s they gave me when i bought it i don't know what has been done to the motor in anyway ,as for they didn't either i'm still baffled at my rpm as i've had it tested over and over @ 950 but it's got the harley trot of about 400 rpm and checked for the timing and it's centered not advanced nor retard i've had my bike shop say that they must of got a custom cam in it cause i know in car motors you can have high rpm with the low thump sound for it has a bigger duration of lift and valve movement so i'm still working on that.

Hate to say it but the #'s don't sound right. You have almost 50% gain in HP gain from stock but a loss of TQ . As far as the stumble probably due to the change in outside temps try turning your pms out 1/4 turn and turn your idle up to at least 750-850rpm.

I have to agree with you on that. No way a 1600 will get a 50% HP increase without engine work, and not with a stock carb on top of that. And that loss of Tq is a lot to lose. The HP numbers are close to that of a stage 3 set-up, but the Tq is well less than stock of 88Tq.
