dbachman--

First, welcome to the Clinic!

I've got an '04 and am at 7,100 feet...brought it up from Phoenix (900 ft), so I've had to do a lot of leaning out to get it to run right at altitude.

My setup is:

DJ 175 main
stock 35 pilot
clip on 4th groove from the blunt end of the needle
PMS @ 2.5
Accel pump nut flipped and all the way in
Ported manifold
SAK (Speedstar Air Kit)
HK 3" Big Straights
No fuel pump
Vented gas cap

With that setup, I'm finally to the point where the back spark plugs are not all sooty.
I went too lean for a little while (170 main, needle on 3rd clip, PMS at 2) but lost a lot of power, so I'm happy with the current setup.

Hope some or any of that helps!

RK

Hi Muskie,

I took the bowl off of my carb and found a 175 main jet and the pilot jet just says "F" on it. What does the F mean? Thanks,

Hey db

Are there any other markings on the main? Who makes the jet is important. For example a:

175 Mikuni is equal to about a 187 Dynojet

175 Dynojet is equal to a 164 Mikuni

I'll go pull it. My plugs were black and sooty after a 60 mph ride. maybe 1/8 - 1/4 throttle. Back in a minute

Hi Muskie,

It just has a 175 stamped on the top of it - no other markings.

Hey db

I see RK and Doc alreray got you covered on the main. Need to know what the needle is set at like Doc said. And do you know if your manifold has been ported or if you have an aftermarket manifold.
