You're right the Speedstar needle is a bit fatter that the other aftermarket ones. That's probably why Yammi recommends the 50.

I'd try the tried and true start settings ...

170 main
35 pilot
clip on 5th groove
PMS about 2.5 - 3

Then do the WOT test to get the main dialed in.

After that raise the clip to 4 and test out.

Can someone tell me the how the spacers and the washers go on the needle? I think the guy might have had it in there wrong. Thanks, db

From blunt end - Washer, clip, white spacer, washer

Thanks Muskie,

Yup, It was put in wrong. From the blunt end - washer, spacer, washer, clip, and under the clip, was the little spring that fits on the plastic O- ring jobbie. It was slipped on from the pointed end. I will try to fix that tomorrow.

LOL - Yea and I rode it home 500mi. like that. I was thinking this thing sucks the gas.
As my pipes and everthing else was getting sooted up. Thanks, Musky, I'll get back on again tommorow after I get it put back together.

Heay Doc...Are you the one who soldered up the pilot air correction and redrilled it to .031. My 2005 roadstar 1700 is backfiring a lot and driving me crazy. Any thign I might need to know to do this. Any tips would be greatly appericiated. Elevation 3176 asl.
