Dying after a mile 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Been running like poo lately so last night thought I'd throw about 10 oz of Sea Foam in on a fill up and run her like hell, if she'd stay running. In town I'll get about a mile before it starts sputtering and dies out. Let is sit for a couple minutes and fires right up and the same repeats. I did get to the highway and turned around, got it to 65 in 3rd gear and it didn't stall til I let off.

When I got home I let it idle in the driveway for 10 minutes hitting the throttle once in a while, no problems. But when I first started it, about half choke, put my hand behind the pipes and got covered in soot

Earlier this year I swapped Short Shots for Power Shots and thought it may have been running a tad rich, haven't had the carb apart yet to see what the PO has for jetting, that'll be tonights project.

Last note, changed the oil about a month ago, 4 qts Mobil 1 V Twin. But I did forget to warm it up before draining

if you think its running rich you may have the onset of svs or maybye your pump is on its way out if not gone now.

Speaking of ring free..should I wait to add that while I still have a lot of Sea Foam in the tank?

Soulds like something plugging the intake in the tank maybe...........check your flow. Clogged filter? Or maybe something is going on that is limiting spark, like a bad battery.

UPDATE....For anyone with similar problems. Threw a shock treatment of ring free in a full tank. Took her up the road and she started to sputter once, pulled out of it and never did it again. Ran that tank kind of hard but not crazy hard, still got 43 mpg. Guess it was the start of SVS, looks like I'll have to lean her out a bit.
