Where do these hoses go? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
|
|
I installed a new Baron's Jet Kit today and could use a little help. My bike has a Hyper Charger and AIS removed, so not all the hoses and vacuum lines are going where they originally did, and I'm having difficulty remembering were it all goes.
First are the red and green hoses in the picture below. Where do they go?
And in this image, should there be something attached here, or is it just left over from the AIS?

The red hose is your vacuum tube. If your AIS is gone you should remove the hose and seal up the manifold nipple. The green hose looks like your crankcase vent hose but it also looks like you have one already hooked up.

Both lines were attached to something before I took everything apart, AIS was removed by the PO, I just cant remember where they go.
I thought the red one might connect to the butterflies on the HC. It's pretty long and was definitely attached to something before I took it all apart. But now the butterfly valves on the HC are stuck, and I didn't have time to figure out why.
Will have to deal with it tomorrow, but I want to get as much info as possible before I go back at it.
As for the crank case vent, that's a different hose that goes into the intake boot on the back of the HC.
I looked at the HC install instructions, it shows something completely different from what I've got. I'm thinking maybe it's because of the AIS removal?

Red hose is the vac line for your hypercharger. And the green hose will hook into the rubber boot that conects the hypercharger to the carb (big plastic nipple at 6 o'clock.

FWIW, take a camera and shoot a couple pics before you disassemble. Makes putting things back together much smoother. Sure has helped me.

Now that's just crazy talk! You know, that would have been the smart thing to do, but then I didn't figure on my bike being apart for 2 weeks waiting on parts. The ol' memory ain't what it used to be.

Green one goes somewhere else, that's what's got me stumped. There's another one, not shown in these photos, that goes to the boot. The other end of the green one goes toward the fuel pump, just above the choke, next to the fuel line, but cant see exactly where.
Also, what about this line in red below? Should it be on the carb if I'm using a Hyper Charger with the AIS removed?

Doc just had a look @ my set up & your red hose is to the butterflies, the other lines hook up to the boot & back left hand corner of the HC(should be a plastic elbow there). The open pipe in the second pic hooks up to the fuel pump on my bike.If u want some pics let me know
Cheers Toby

Doc, if yours is a california bike then the green hose goes from the carburetor bowl vent over to a solenoid and then down to the charcoal canister. The red hose is what has already been described. The black piece at 6 oclock hooks via an elbow to the area just below the diapheam on the rear head side of the carb.
The opening with the red arrow, I don't know, It might possibly be the vacuum source that clears the charcoal canister when the engine is running. I know it's not the fuel tank inlet because I can see that at the right of the picture with the little fuel filter sock still in it.
