Re:Stock needle 1 Year ago
To the best of my knowledge the stock needle only has one groove. I just ordered a stock "needle set" which includes the needle, clip, spacer and washer. Am looking forward to getting it to compare to the 6 groove needle I have.

Re:Stock needle 1 Year ago
The reason I'm asking is I didn't get this bike new a couple of daya ago I put the K&N RA-076V with a dj jet kit 195 on 4th grove from blunt the needle I pulled from my carb had 6 groves but it seems to look a little different that the dj needle I am just wondering if the one that was on my carb is a barons because if it is i'd rather use it and do like 170 or 175 mukuni main

Re:Stock needle 1 Year ago
That is an aftermarket needle and you can still tune with a 170-175 Mikuni jet regardless of DJ or Barons.

Re:Stock needle 1 Year ago
Im thinking the 6 groove may be a Speedstar, but have no clue for sure. I have read the DJ needle is Different from the Barons and I think also (but not sure) I have read the Barons needle is closer in size to the stock needle. When my new stock needle set gets here, I will pull the 6 groove and do some comparisons with my micrometer, would be Kuelle to have all 4 kinds to compare but a bit pricey for just a comparison me thinks

A Speedstar needle does have 6 grooves but I think one of the other 2 also has 6. I believe the Barons is thinner than the Speedstar and the jetting used with a Speedstar needle is completely different than the barons or DJ. I used a Speedstar kit and all I need to change was the pilot jet to a #40 and get the needle set to the proper groove. I use an AFR gauge to set it up so there was no guessing as to how it was tuned.

I am running the 6 groove with clip in the 4th slot from Blunt end. PMS is 2.25 turns out main is 170, pilot is 35. I do have a ported manifold and would most likely be running a 172.5 without the porting. My main jet is a Mikuni btw.
