#491793 FF56 (User) Junior Boarder Posts: 137 Looking for ideas 1 Year ago   I'm looking for some knowledge and ideas. How well do the carbs adjust to altitude changes? I live at 9000', work at 5500', and ride over 10,000 on a regular basis. I am pretty sure I am running rich at my home, but am wondering at what altitude I should set the carb up at, so it will run good from 5000' to 10,000'. Is it stock? I have only put about 20 miles on it so far, took it out yesterday, filled the tank and added the 4oz of seafoam, brought it home and cleaned and reoiled the air filter. Still has the fuel pump and AIS system. Talking to friend up here that have modified other bikes, most have said that changing exhaust and air filter actually made the bike run normal at this altitude. I am waiting for my next week day off so I can take the bike to a friend shop and do a 4 gas on it.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #492156 Rev. First thing I would is take the carb off check float level while your there take a look and see what size main and pilot jets are in there. I don't know about making it run normal but with the thin air at that altitude the more air the better. You do lose some ponies the higher you are. When I lived in Golden and would come to Ga. I live on the east side of the continential divide, thats the 10,000' elevation I have to cross to see my buddy on the west side of the divide, and I work on the west side of denver, you know the mile high city 5280'.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access.
