This reminds me of recent Ron White comedy hour my wife recorded. He talks about the mucho fancy toilet in his hotel room. Has a button with picture of man seated and water shooting as his butt.

He hits the button and sure enough up comes a stream and it's center right on his bung hole. Then he notices a button that says oscilate and he says why not?

After letting the bike warm up,(a little 3 minutes)my 2007 roadstar with stock carb,never choked,backfired or blipped. It seems to me, that my bike, likes to have the accelerator pump squirt broken up by hitting the floor of the venturi.My thoughts are that this is allowing the squirt to atomize quicker.This is the first time it ran without any issues since I bought it 2 months ago.

And what were the temps 2 months ago as compared to now. Temps play a big role in jetting and atomization of the gas. A carbed bike should be jetted in the temps of your prime ride season. Once that is established, the only thing necessary would be an pilot screw adjustment.

Erbman02, I'm getting the impression that you don't agree with my attempts to alter the location of the squirt. I decided to warm up my bike (10-12 miles of riding)then changed the squirt back to where it was, and my back firing and burps were back(not as bad as when it was cooler out)so i ran it for another 10 miles still the problem persists.I then changed the squirt back to my new found location and after 1/4 mile no problems. Maybe I'm not the carb mechanic you are but I'm trying.

If it works for you then more power to you for trying something no one else has. You may just be on to something. BTW it isn't an exact science with these things.

Don't let Erbman fool you, he loves to tinker so much, he ran out of things to do on the stock carb and replaced it.....
Stick with the program rooftop There's an audience. You'll have to take a bow when your finished.
I don't remember if I mentioned, but I put the nut back on top of the stop, and backed the duration screw about 1 1/2 turns off the nut. The response is back. I think its a good compromise between response and mileage.
I hadn't read anything regarding aiming the accelerator squirt before. next time I'm messing with the carb, I'll follow your tips. Thanks for sharing the progress.

===================

Like i have been saying for past couple yrs here in RSC that when you have an off idle stumble/hesitation when hitting the thorttle on a stock R* carb that an out of adj accel pump could often be the issue like when:

* Aceel pumps not activating/shooting fuel at same time throttle plate starts to move & needs to be adjusted.

* Accel pumps not giving enough of a fuel shot/needs adj for longer duration of shot.

* Accel pump isn't working at all needing repair.

* Or as Rooftop found playing with accel pump shot angle that it also affected his motor which was a nice find/good additional tweak we should add to our carb tuning tips thanks to RoofTops tuning work.

Erbman02, I know that when the beast is warn and running, that any gas mixture should atomize before it hits the throttle plate.Still occasionaly I can see the accelerator pump squirt trail well into the vortex. I have been getting some results altering the position of the squirt. This really does not make any sense,is it possible that the orifice on my accelerator pump squirt tube is to big? As you and many others have said that your ride MUST be warmed up to tune. Most of the time my rodie will not warm up by the time I'm back home Tuning the lower temp ride is important!Please don"t laugh is my HOLE TO BIG How can I tell if my squirt stream is to thick?
