#506187 streece (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 9 Hard staring strong smell of gas!!! 12 Months ago   i have an 03 1600...just had the recall done and had no problems prior to that. now after a long ride on a hot day. sometimes, but not all the time, it does not want to start right back up...when it does this i get a strong smell of gas back through the breather. but once it's running it seems fine...i do get a backfire sometimes when i blip the throttle. Shut the fuel down about 20 or 30 seconds before you turn the motoer off. Then start it just before you open the fuel again.
