07RS, with VH longshots with extra L shape back pressure plate so far, and it runs just fine.
If I keep the stock airbox with the stock air filter that is more restictive then K&N and drill few holes in the side of the box, just like poormans BAK but keep them smaller (was thinking of using 1/2" drill bit). Would this work without rejet?
Will this give me more air flow to make the differance?
Also I have heared that with K&N filters they do let in more air but also let in more crap/dust as well, would you not be cutting the life span of the engine by using them?

Darekc I've used the K&N for years and had no trouble with them.
Had Roadhouse slip-ons with the K&N and found no reason to rejet.
you may have to tweak the pms. IMHO I would put a K&N or amsoil has a new filter the dosen't require oil, in the air box and not drill the holes.
At some future time you may want to return to all stock for a reason and
have to find another airbox
I have since put my stock exhaust back on with stage one drilling
and it still runs good. Just my .0003 cents worth.  |

Don't know where they got their info on the K&N but it's dead wrong unless you totally neglect it and run it with no oil.
So you want to leave the stock filter in cuz it's more restrictive but you want to drill holes to cause less restriction.  Maybe just put the less restrictive K&N in there and don't drill holes.  Seriously If you don't want to rejet I wouldn't drill any holes. You really don't know how far you can go before you cross the line and end up with too much airflow. My .1 cent anywho. |

RoadieFF I went out for awhile and just saw your question.
I took the slip-ons off last August when I went out west.
Was going around Denver and didn't want to take a chance on getting a ticket for not having the stock exhaust on.
When I got back I didn't take time to switch back. Then I heard yamahog7
video on the stage-1. so I did mine and was satisfied for now with the sound and performance and left it alone.  |

I heard the Denver area was cracking down. 
Stage 1 isn't bad, it's all I have right now. One of these days I'm going to get some doolies.  |
