Jetting for R* 1600 with a kuryakyn twin velocity 4 Years, 6 Months ago
I recently purchased a Kuyrakyn Twin Velocity Air Breather. I have not installed or attempted to install as of yet, mainly due to the negative readings on this site concerning the performance of the Twin Velocity. I have noticed that many seem to have a problem getting the jetting just right. Has anyone figured this out? I do not want to install it and not be able to get it jetted correctly. The kit comes with a #205, #175, #182.5, #185, #187.5 main jets. The directions suggest a #205 main jet. Any suggestions would be great.

Hey Otis,
Welcome to the clinic.
I can't help you with the twin velocity, I went a different route.
Somebody will speak up in a few minutes, I'm sure.

Those jets are all too rich IMO. You might want to get a 167.5 and a 170 large round head Mikuni main jet. Or you can pick up a Barons jet kit. It has all the jets you need and a good needle.

Performance-wise the TV is no better or worse than other air cleaners. The problems most folks have is that they follow the suggested jetting instructions ..... which as Musky noted are too rich.

Once you are ready, give us you bike setup and we can offer some suggestions.

Just to make it interesting, I just purchased a BAK on ebay, no jets included. So what would work better with it? I have VH's longshots as my exhaust if that matters. Anyone looking to buy a Twin Velocity

When you buy the BAK new it comes with the Barons jet kit I posted to you about earlier. It's one of the easiest kits to work with IMO. Another suggestion would be to port your manifold. It really helps tie everything together and get the most out of the pipes, airkit, and jetting.

Any jet kit will work with the BAK. You can just keep the one from the TV (Mikuni I believe) and buy additional jets it you need.
