Adding the Hypercharger 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Today I start the process. Rode The bike to my brother's house this morning in the freezing cold (25 degrees F). We are adding floorboard extensions to his roady today and then we a going to attempt to rejet my carb. Any last minute advice. I have the rejetting article printed out and ready to go. This could take a while because of limited time, but I have all winter. Thanks in advance for any help. And while I had the bike out of hibernationj this morning, I snapped a pic with the new linby bar on it.

If you don't have Allen head bolts for the float bowl yet get some. When you pull out and put back in the plastic plug that holds the needle in place take it easy and don't wiggle it side to side too much or you will break off one of the ears. When you have the diaphragm out to do the needle turn it upside down so the spacer and washer comes out with the needle. Otherwise they'll stay inside. Keep an eye on the little needle spring. It can get away from you. Take a green scrubbing pad and clean up the slide while you have it out. They get carbon build up on them in the shape of the carb throat and don't move as easy. Take the carb apart on a clean towel. It's easier to see the parts if they fall out and they won't bounce and disappear into the no find zone. If you haven't planned on porting the manifold plan on it as long as you have things apart. On the manifold to carb clamp there is a spacer in between the ends of the clamp. Take the spacer out and grind about a dimes thickness off of the end. That will help make sure you get a good seal. I put wheel bearing grease all the way around in the groove the diaphragm sits in. There are only 2 screws in the big plastic cover so it helps to fill in any gaps that might be there. If you are going to walk away from it for any length of time finish whatever you are working on at the time so you don't come back and can't remember where you left off. It isn't hard. Once you get in there you'll see it's all pretty basic stuff.

The bar looks good

Bike is looking great pman!

The cold air will be a lot denser than the air will be in spring and summer. Take the time to get really good at yanking the tank and carb off the bike. Its a ton easier to do this stuff on a good bench and only take a few minutes to get it all off.

If you tune for best results in winter cold temps, you might need to make some changes come springtime.

Also, Don't forget to completely disconnect the choke cable from the bike during the removal of the carb (under the fuel pump), as many have pulled on that cable by accident, inadvertently stretching it, and then it never fully closes the enrichener, causing a rich condition. Just a word of caution, don't know anybody it's actually happened too. BB

You bet Coug, the HK's sound great. My brother bought a roadie a couple of months ago. We put floor board extensions on his yesterday, and pulled the carb out of mine. Now I am waiting for the new main jets.

Been quite a while since I seen green on the ground.
Don't know if I can remember what that green lawn condition is, or what causes that condition.
If I can remember correctly, it has something to do with warmth from the sun,
and I can't remember what that's like either. It's going to be a long winter.
