PMS Setting 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I have an 06 r*. It has been recommended that I turn out the PMS screw 3 to 3.5 turns. Is this 3 full rotations of the screw or just 3 turns as much as my wrist will allow per turn with the screwdriver. I know it sounds silly, but I just want to make sure I am doing it right

It is three turns of the screw head. I put a mark on my screwdriver handle with a sharpie and watch that as I turn. Don't tighten it down too tight - you could damage the seat or the needle on the PMS screw. You should also count on your way in so know where you started. You may not like 3 turns and want to put it back - it would be nice to know where that was.

Re:PMS Setting 2 Years, 8 Months ago
OK....I have done it you suggested.

Current Setup:

AIS removed
K&N Big Air Kit
Hard Krome 2 in 1 Sideburners
Baron Jet Kit - 172.5, 4th clip, 3.25 PMS

I am still getting backfiring, popping but only off hard throttle release.
Any suggestions.

Secondly,

I was playing with the Duration screw and have no clue what stock setting is or where it should be with my current setup. Since tinkering I have noticed the need to give her a little more throttle off the line. Once moving she is fine.

Thanks
Topher

Backfiring on decel may indicate an exhaust leak. Check the pipe to head area to see if it's well sealed.

Try raising your needle a bit by putting a shim under the plastic spacer.

The best way to adjust your PMS is use a tach to see where the motor revs the highest. As an alternative, turn the PMS in very slowly until the bike stumbles, then turn it out (count number of turns) until it stumbles. Halfway in-between these two settings is where you should be.

Make sure the bike is idling at about 800 rpm when adjusting the PMS. You can turn the idle down later if you want it to idle slower.

Re: Carb Question 2 Years, 8 Months ago
While installing the needle from my jet kit, I noticed that the slightly elevated small opening the tapered end of the needle goes into had a section missing out of it. That missing section facing slightly turned to the left of center if looking straight into the carb once the air filter and housing is removed.
Is this normal? A little worried!

I'm new to a Raodstar this year. At the risk of sounding stupid, can anyone tell where to find the PMS screw and the accel pump screw on an 06 Roadstar carb. I tore apart my 1100 many times with no issues. This is a much differnt beast. Thanks for the help.

@Topher

The needle tube normally has some holes in it. If your bike is running ok, I wouldn't worry about it. If your bike is an 03 or earlier, I have a couple of replacements if you need them.
