Carb Question 2 Years, 8 Months ago
While installing the needle from my jet kit, I noticed that the slightly elevated small opening the tapered end of the needle goes into had a section missing out of it. That missing section facing slightly turned to the left of center if looking straight into the carb once the air filter and housing is removed.
Is this normal? A little worried!

Don't remember that one.

I have to take my filter off to oil it. I'll give it a look-see.

Hey Doc,

Spoke to a few folks who have roadstars and they tell me that the small stainless nipple the needle sits in at the bottom of carb will have a section 1/16",missing off the side of it facing somewhat toward the butterfly valve. Apparently so fuel can swirl from the jet up around the needle and mix with air before entering the intake. You can only see this if you look straight down through the opening where the slide plate and needle seat into. Have you heard of this?

No. But I certainly haven't heard it all

Kinda makes sense if you think about air flow around a cylinder. Air tends to move smoothly around a cylinder so if it is interrupted then it will cause turbulence.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Didn't get a chance to check mine out. Watching Ottawa vs Buffalo.
