#57555 cartersta (User) winter antifreeze, send jack daniels Platinum Boarder Posts: 1029 fuel milage revisited 1 Year ago   Since it has gotten cooler, my gas milage has gotten worse , in july we we on a long ride and i averaged around 44 - 48, now it getting 33 -39, even changed plugs, switched form ngk to autolite, does the cold have any effect? could the carb setting have changed? any ideas on the matter?   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access. #57568 DocShadow (Admin) Hmmmm .... send beer Admin Posts: 11027 Re:fuel milage revisited 1 Year ago   Winter blend fuel has a lower BTU rating due to the additives. This will result in lower gas mileage. Cold air is also denser that warm air but I doubt is would have that much of an effect for a bike vs car. That's cuz cold air is more dense so your getting more air than usual and your running leaner.
