Need jetting advice... 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Hello,
I have a 01' R* Midnight withe the following:
1. AIS romoved
2. DJ jet kit also bought a few extra jets that were not in the kit,
DJ180 and a DJ178.7 (these were the closest to the Mikuni 167.7)
3. BUB Chambermaids w/baffles
4. K&N air kit (not just the filter in the stock air box)
5. I noticed the durations screw is all the way in w/ the nut on the backside and I know they don't come this was stock..

I need to know wich main jet, needle setup, and PMS setting to get me started..
also if I should adjust the accelerator pump screw..

Sorry this is so long...
Thanks for any input

I'd start off with the DJ 180, needle on the third groove and PMS out 3 turns.

Check out the Tech Tips section on how to test the main ....

Once you have the main set up then you can move to the other circuits.

You can leave the duration screw as is. I still have mine at stock setup and don't have any problems unless I get 'twist-wrist' happy. (different strokes .... )

Thanks Doc..
Do you happen to remember the needle set up?
What order? c-clip, washer, ect...
I have been reading so many differant things, all the way from no washers to extra washers and in all kinds of differant orders,,
What clip, washer set up should I start with?
Thanks again..

Yea, it's confusing.

From the blunt end (the top) it's:

- washer (the spring sits on this)
- clip (fits in one of the grooves)
- white plastic retainer
- silver washer

You can fine tune the clip settings by adding an additional washer under the bottom washer or replacing the bottom washer with a thicker one. They come in different colours - silver (same thickness as the groove), purple (1.5 grooves). If you have to add more that two silver then change the clip.
