That's been my intent all along, but when I saw the billet one going for $50(5 days into a 6 day auction) I thought I'd just get the whole thing for about what I'd pay for the stock K&N. It ended up getting bumped up to $75 by the time the auction was done, but even at that it was a deal.

I'll end up doing the stock K&N I expect. Just found one on a site for $54.00

The price was right (it sold for $75) and I do like the look of the duel pipes, but that may be down the road one day. But then I'll need to get the brackets that lower the hard bags, jet kit and who knows what other stuff. I'm trying to get a handle of the accessory addiction that seems to plague all us motor jockey's.

The whole point of adding the K&N was to keep from every having to buy another air filter. I've got K&N in my pathfinder and did notice improved performance and mileage after the install. But the Big-In, Small-Out theory makes sense on why there'd be no performance benefit to adding the unit.

And thanks for the offer of the hypercharger I love the look of having it hanging out there on the side of the big twins. It just says power to me, but I think you're right in that it would poke out too much for me to be comfortable riding with it. So I'll pass. Make yourself a quick $200 and sell it on ebay. Those things are on there all the time for nearly $300, so if you posted yours I'm sure it would sell no problem.

Well a little. Flashback, you got some serious $$$ sitting around it hard parts. Whatever Mark7 isn't interested in , you should put back up for sale here. Lots of new faces, and everybody likes saving a buck or two. Just a thought. BB

about having the airbox without pipes...
I ordered both but only the K&N Air box showed up so I just had to put it on, and the bike idles, but would not cruise, starved for gas hesitated after the accel pump squirt ran out.
So a quick adjust to the PMS and it ran good, I really did not notice much in the way of any improved performance with the airbox and only ran 2 tanks of gas before the pipes showed up (no real gain in fuel mileage stock jetting). With the pipes it seems to have a lot more grunt in the mid to higher rpm cruise range. I do not think at this point I would spend the money to go stage 3 or 4 till the warranty is over. I use it to daily drive and do not really wish to spend the cash to go faster than it can now in rush hour. My rideing friends have an assortment of bikes HD's Yama's a KAW cruiser and the R* is the strongest cruiser and accels fastest of all but the other Yami which is an old maxim 750-4 (crotch rocket in disguise)..

I added the Speedstar Air Filter on my Bike with a set of Samson Rolled Thunder Slip on Pipes and thought I had to Jet my Carb after reading a number of posts on this topic. I spoke with the Tech at the local dealer about this and told him what I had added and he said that as long as it is not back firing and runs fine there is no need to change the jets. When the bike is cold she has to idle and warm up which is normal and she idles fine, I have to pull the choke out for a few minutes, after she warms up she is ready to run. I have no problems with it.
