I looked around at other posts, and although I'm sure the information I seek is probably here somewhere, I'll ask anyway. I installed the Barons
BAK with the supplied jet and needle. Per other posts I have read, I went with the 170 in the BAK (Mikuni..right?)Kept the stock
pilot (although I forgot to verify that it is the "stock" 35) Clip in the 4th (from blunt end)groove, plastic spacer under clip, no washers (per tech article posted her in the clinic)
PMS 3 1/2 turns out. Started it, and it was back firing through the
carb which I assumed was a lean condition, turned PMS about another 1/4 turn no more back firing. Took it for a ride and it's a little gurgelly (is that a word) at low throttle, but runs good at higher throttle (cranked her up to about 90-95 and no drop off of power), so right now, my only complaint is at lower throttle. Musky has reponded to an earlier post that I should put the washer back under the spacer as it was stock. (should the tech article be updated?)Since then, I see that he has recommended that others put 2 washers under the spacer. Would this apply to those of us running the barons needle as well? I thought I read somewhere that adding a washer under the spacer was equivalent to 1/2 a groove. If that is the case adding 2 would be the same as just moving the clip a groove wouldn't it? Is there some other reason to having 2 washers under the plastic spacer? I am not doubting Musky in any way and greatly appreciate his, and everyone else's help. I am just trying to understand it all. By the way I have not done the
WOT test yet, and have read that the clip shoud be on the 5th groove. Does that hold true if I have 1 or 2 washers under the spacer? I apologize for being so dense about this. Oh by the way, I am running pipes also (V & H Pro Pipe).
