Go to Tech Tips at the Top Of this Page
Look under the Carb section and READ EVERYTHING
Then Go to Forums and check out All the Jetting Posts
And then U2 can become a carb jetting Maniac like MySelf

If you count from the top of the needle (the same way it sits it the carb) as you move the clip up, that leans the mix. Move it down richen.

Re:HelpHe with Jetting 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Doc,

The results are in. I am getting 32.4 mpg. The riding is about 10 percent in town and the rest highway. I am hearing that this in not that good. But that is a lot better than the 20 that I was getting. Do you have any suggestions that would increase my mileage?

Thanks,
Vince

Vince,

What is the current setup of your carb.

Also remember, if you're reving it up for the babes at red lights then your gas mileage will go south.

Re:HelpHe with Jetting 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Doc,

The current setup of my carb is main jet #165. Clip is in 3rd position with 1 washer. The pilot has the number 35 on it and the starter jet has the number 575 on it. It still has the AIS on it. I have not touched the PMS, but have read the tech tips.

Thanks,
Vince

Re:HelpHe with Jetting 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Vince,

There's nothing with your carb setup that would indicate such poor mileage. You're basically stock for a '00. The PMS could be optimized by it won't get you and extra 10 mpg.

The only thing that needs to be verified is the float level.

If that's OK then you have me stumped.

Place a post for Odo on the R* Riders Forum and see what he recommends. He works with carbs almost on a daily basis so maybe he can suggest something.

It may not be the carb. You may have low compression in the cylinders or something else mechanical ???
