Maxair + Jetting + std pipes 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
i just had a the recall done & at the same time had the dealer fit my new Maxair inc the recommended (by Maxair) jetting, i have std pipes with stage 1 mod, the dealer said that thebike was running way too rich due to the std pipes, & has suggested that i take the Maxair off & the jets out putting it back to std until the pipes that i have ordered arrive, does this sound right? i have bub chambermaids on back order & have also purchased a Nemisis manifold so may seek info on optimising this setup,

I don't know what the max jet settings are but I'm guessing it would be too rich even with the pipes. And with the Nemesis manifold you will need to go leaner than people do with the ported stock manifold. It probably would have been better to wait and do it all at once. But if the the pipes and mani are going to be here soon it won't hurt to run it rich for a little while. My .00006 cents anywho.

If you are waiting on pipes then I'd wait. You'll just have to rejet again when the pipes come in.

Whenever you change the airflow, then you need to rejet. That said, the setup instructions included with the Maxair kit are correct. The only other thing you really need to check is your float level. With the carb upside down on a workbench, it should measure 16mm from the midpount on the carb seam to the uppermost part of the float.

I set mine according to the instructions (along with the float adjustment) and I'm averaging 40+ MPG on a Road* that was running dino oil and wasn't even broken in yet!

Good luck!
