Would it work? Would I want it to? 4 Years, 1 Month ago
I just had one of my "what if" moments... which sometimes end up costing me money! I'm going to ask this to get the pros and cons from the guys who know for those who don't know.

Is a CV carb from a Harley the correct size to fit a Roadie and the correct size to feed it?

My reasons for asking...
1. They can be had pretty cheaply from the HD guys that swap them for S&S carbs.
2. There is a great selection of aftermarket air cleaners for the CV.
3. My understanding is that it is a great carb when it's tuned.
4. I just like making things work places where they aren't meant to.

What do y'all think?

IMO, the BSR 40 mikuni on the roadie is superior to the keihin fitted to harleys.

i canīt remember off the top of my head, but i believe the kiehin used on the big twins is a 38mm, but i could be wrong on that one.

stick with the BSR, unless one of your harley mates changes an HSR 42 for an S&S or other carb. grab the HSR!

I seem to remember the same as Erizo, the the harley's are 38mm. In spite of that I had a friend who was going to try it... But haven't spoken to him in a while so don't know if he ever did.

The carbs are similiar enough to evoke a lawsuit against mikuni... so good question. There are more mods available (cheap ones) for the harley carb.
