STALLING 5 Years, 10 Months ago
I have a question for all? I have been working on my bike off and on for about q year now. When I give the bike partial throttle for thirty seconds or more the rear cylinder starts to sputter and die out. At that point I have to blip the throttle to bring it back to life or if I let off it will stall. I have show gun pipes and hi flow air cleaner and jet kit. The bike has not run correctly since all was installed.
Thanks,

It seems that at partial throtal as in 1/16 turn, you start to enter the main
jet. I found that if the main jet is to large it will flood the bike just off idle. This is the problem with the stalling and popping out the exhaust.
My setting seems to work in all conditions so far.
Thanks all for your posts,

I always try and do the easy stuff to check first. Air leaks on exhaust and intake. Are the exhaust bolts tight? Did whoever put the exhaust on use new gaskets? Check the plug wires. Have you checked your plugs?

Yes,
I looked into all the possible problems. I have done all the work myself except for one stupid trip to the dealer. I have posted my settings in the jetting form based on what I read there. That issue sounded the same as what I had.
Thanks,

Ok,
I found myself with the same problems. I am using the dyno jet kit.
Main 190
Pilot 37
ais plugged off
Needle clip at the 3rd from the top
Screw 3 turns out.

Top end is great idle is fine. Midrange or low rpm cruise it falls on its face and chokes out the rear cylinder. It seems like it is starving for fuel but the plug is wet with fuel when removed. The plug has black soot cover the tip.
I tried all different set ups and could not make it go away.
I purchased a new jet kit from Yamaha as part of the stage 2 kit.
Main 165
Pilot 50
ais plugged off
Needle clip at the 5th from top
Screw 2.5 turns out.
Same as above, but when I made this test it was with the dyno jet needle. I changed the needle to the new one. Performed test again and the issue was gone so far. I will take it for a test ride tomorrow and see. It seems that the rear cylinder is more susceptible to fuel conditions than the front. Wile performing all these test and changes the front never changed that much. I did notice that after the bike is wormed up it would pop or backfire out the exhaust on shut down, sometimes.
Thanks,

OK
Found that the main was to large In other settings
now I have a setting of
Main 165
Pilot stock
AIS plugged off
Needle clip at 6th from top
Screw 3.25 turns out still a little rich will try 2.75 that should fix it.
Other than that all ellse is Good.
Thanks,

I believe that you are too lean on the main and too rich on the needle. Did you try the WOT test?

To start, I would recommend a DJ 180 and the clip on 4 from the top.

What is the WOT test?
My last settings were with the Yamaha jet kit
You sound correct for the settings with dyno jet. I gave up on them based on a comment from the dealer stating I had the wrong kit.
Thanks,
P.S. My latest settings the bike runs perfect from a cold start all the way thru hot starts.

If it runs "perfect" then I'd leave it alone. No use messing with perfection Unless you have nothing better to do on the weekends
