MPG`s 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Been talkin to Coach and he told me he also had a milage drop during the winter from mid 40`s to mid`s 30`s.So I`m gonna wait awhile till things get warmer and more summer gas gets thru the bike before I change any thing else.

At my jetting I should be pretty close so I`ll take a wait and see attitude, not like the bike runni bad or anything

Laughlin should tell me more how she`s doin

I agree. Trying to make judgements with all the crap they throw in winter gas is a waste of time and effort.

I took a 90 mile road trip and averaged 45 mpg. Around town I'm getting low 30's.

I don't know what I got on my 300 mile ride the other guys kept filling up when I had 1/3 a tank left. I was getting about 35 in town to and from work. I am starting to wonder if they have changed the gas up some how there are a lot of the guys having poping and backfiring problems like me all of a sudden. I know they changed to summer gas about the time my problem started because my truck went from 11 - 12 mpg to 14+ and that is when the bike started acting up.

What is the difference between winter/summer fuel? I just noticed my bike is running better now, not super rich like it was (it's still rich though) and my Jeep is getting a little better mileage too.

Hey RIPBiker13
It's partly the additives they use. All major brands have their own special summer/winter blends. Also, in the summer, the gas is warmer, and expands. This helps the gas mix with the air faster, which helps us. When the gas tankers load at the pipelines they have to punch into the computer what brand they are pulling off of, and the blend for that brand is automatically added to the gas as it is loaded into the tanker. They also have to punch in how many gallons they are loading, and the computer will figure the temperature into the equation. They can load more gas in the winter.

Took a 142 mile ride on Sunday in the foothills and up to about the 5000 ft level in the mountains (Palomar Mountain). I averaged 50 miles per gallon. I only have about 1500 miles on the bike. First few tanks weren't very good about 37 miles per gallon. But after changing the oil to Mobil 1 and the transfer case and the first few tanks I am averaging about 50-51 miles per gallon. Live and ride in Southern California.

Living and riding in SO CAL with the fuel $17/gal you NEED to get 50mpg+ or you'll be broke! LOL
