My advice would be to go to the Tech Articles and read up on it there. I'm doing pretty much the same this weekend and all the info I needed was there.
Good Luck!

I think Maxaire comes with Dynojet jets. Right? If so you could try the 175 main. Put the clip in the 5th groove from the blunt end of the needle. If it's the new maxmix PMS set it between 2 and 3 turns out. If it's the old maxmix cut that in half. Leave the pilot jet alone. Do the WOT. If the main is OK put the clip in the 4th groove from the blunt end and tweak the needle and PMS from there. These are just suggestions. Your bike will tell you what it wants.

Hey George
I have the MaxAir on my 1700. Not sure of the brand of jets with kit, but kit came with a 185 and 190 main jets. Mine used the 190, but yours, the 1600 uses the 185.
Yours does use the stock main, but mine used the 37.5. You can try the 175 like Musky suggested, you'll probably get better fuel milege. Mine runs great, but my fuel milege sucks.
