Hey Vegas

Yes, you did say slow down but I won't hold it against you.
The pilot jets are what I was asking about. Am I right that a 35 would have a bigger hole that a 37.5? I'm pretty sure I am going to put a BAK on so I might as well firgure out what's what.

By the way when I start this project life as you know it will end. The torrential flood of questions will likley crash the site. Or I'll try and log on only to find out my name has been blocked. Forever.

Musky,

Unlike the main, the stamped size is the size in mm.

35 = 35 mm
40 = 40 mm

I'd leave stock in and change it only as a last resort.

Thanks Doc

So the number is the actual size? The stuff I have been reading is BS. I'm going to take it slow. Not going to change anything if I don't have to. Shouldn't be any trouble finding a basic starting point setup for my bike.

With respect to the number on the main, for the DJ it's size of opening and Mikuni it's flow rate.

I think I have that straight.

Re:bad gas mileage 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Latest update!! Last night I changed the main to DJ175, I had it at 170 and I put the PMS at 2.5 turns out, I left the needle on the 4th notch. I took the air cleaner off the bike and took the chrome cover off and then remounted the air box on without the chrome cover. I took it out for a couple miles spin. I know that's not nearly enough, but man the throttle response was a lot better, in fact it was awsome. 100 mph out in 1/8 mile, roughly.... Anyway tonight I plan taking it on an 80 mile trip and trying it out on the interstate.

Another question.. Is it normal for the bike to "jerk" at slow speeds in 1st or 2nd gear. It does it just if I'm idling in gear, it almost feels like what a cam would do. My brothers HD Roadking with the 103 stroker does the same thing. Just wondering if that's normal???

Thanks again for everyones help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you and vegas dave have similar setups .... DJ175, 4th clip.

Thanks for the feedback.

As for the jerking in idle, I get the same. Just need to slip the clutch a bit to smooth it out.
