Flash, you weren't kidding about a lot of reading. I've only scratched the surface of all there is to read, but one guy removed the fuel pump and did nothing with the needle valve. I'm going to try that, and if I need the part, I'll buy it.

You will need to vent your gas cap (save the small pieces you remove). You will also need to adjust your float level higher and remove your roll-over valve. all of this should be addressed in the reading materials.

The tank is already vented, but on the new tank I'm installing a vented cap. I found the article on adjusting the float, but what is the roll-over valve?

The rollover valve is on the end of the tank vent hose. As long as you're in there adjusting the float you might as well put the new needle / seat in. Save you from doing things twice.

Re:No fuel pump? 4 Years ago
It is basicly a one way valve that will keep gas from going thru the vent hose and out of the tank if you ("roll over.. ) totally worthless.. it is located inline with the vent hose off your stock tank back in front of the fender as the hose feeds down.. if you change tanks and use a vented cap, then it is moot, as it will not be there...

Re:No fuel pump? 4 Years ago
I went pumpless and love it. I got the needle from dennis kurk, yes they come as a set needle and seat if I remember right. I have a 2000/ 1600 and only needed one/ one carb, one needle. I can't remember for sure if I actually did the seat or not but you will get all you need with that part number. The number in the tech tips is a suzuki # so you should be all set. You do not need a new cap you can save $$$ and vent the one you have. It takes less than 30 minutes and there is a great article in the tech tips section. Hope this helped Dearman

RIP--

I went pumpless last year after my pump died and left me stranded on the roadside at 11 PM... All I did is take the pump off, run new line and vent the gas cap. I have tried to drain the float bowl and can't...ran it at 5500 rpm (Speedstar ignition module ) for a good 30 seconds, WOT test, normal riding...no matter what, I just can't starve the bowl. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Here's how it ended up:

Nice tank, BTW! And good luck on the chop!
