45 mm flatside carb 8 Months ago
Just got speedstar stage 4 installed. runs like scalded dog even at break in conditions. Tuning seems great on acelleration, little bit of a gurgle(rumble) on Decel. Only problem seems to be a bit of "spit back" on steady lower rpm throttle. absolutley no hesitation on acceleration. is the spit back an issue?

don't really understand what spit back is.. if it's backfireing thru the carb while crusing at slower speeds, I would say something is off.. don't have any experience with a built engine so can't really say..

Me again,
what I call spit back is a small Pffft sound every once in a while. Hard to describe, is similar to starting off before the bike is warm, only not as severe. not really bothersome just want to understand. Whats weird is it only happens at lower rpm's at a fairly steady cruise. Thank for the input. I had the stage four put in just to give my harley riding buddies something to think about.

All the Harleys I have shown the tail light to couldn't begin to keep up. I've ported the manifold and opened up the intake and exhaust. In general most of them are smart enough not to try, just not smart enough to buy a Roadie!

Re:45 mm flatside carb 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Nice to have a good dealer. Mechanic that installed my speedstar got rid of the backfire on the Mikuni carb by increasing the retard on the Dyna 3000 and putting in a larger main jet during my first oil change. No charge for the rejet and messing with the Dyna settings because I wasn't happy with it the first time. Went to semi synthetic at 1000 miles. will go to full synthetic on the 4000. Does this seem reasonable? also I'm thinking about a Jagg oilcooler. does anyone hve any experience?

no experience with the oil cooler, but I'll give ya my 2cents. I don't think any of them are worth the time or money it takes, as they don't work when you need them most. running down the road at 70mph, the engine will stay cool on it's own, sitting in traffic, the oil cooler doesn't get any airflow to cool anything anyhow...IMHO..
