I think I need to explain elementary physics to you. If a white bike goes fast enough it heats up and glows red. That why red is faster.

Therefore:

white = cool = slow
red = hot = fast

Doc,

As old welder I learned that when you heated something up beyond the red or orange color it eventually got "white" hot! Is Musky just that far out in front of you guys?

You are absolutely correct. As you heat a black body it turns red > orange > yellow > white. I was hoping no one would notice. I guess I can't use that one any more.

You have a white bike too.

My, my...the Color Wars have begun!

Picked up the bottle of Marvel today, and I hope to get out of work soon enough to do it up tonight. Doc, when you said a cap full of oil, were you talking about the little cap on the plastic bottle with the filler spout? Been a long time since I've even looked at MMO...I seem to remember it coming in a metal can...guess that shows my age...

Is that a process I should only do ONCE before changing the engine oil, or could I safely run two consecutive tanks of the mix through to really blow it all out? Y'know...overkill for good measure?

Thanks again--

RK, a.k.a. "Mr. White Bike"

PS For the record, black is the absence of all color. White is the result of all colors combined. Ultimately, white is also the lightest color. Since white Roadies are then lighter than any other color Roadie...lighter + same engine = faster. How's that for quasi-logic?

I usually take the filter off the carb and lightly spray MMO into the carb for about 10 seconds and then spary harder until the engine stalls. I then leave it overnight.

It will run like shit the next day until the carbon blows out. Should take about a mile or two. Don't do it early in the morning as the backfiring will wake up the neighbours.

Yes ... add the capful, as you stated, to the tank at the same time. No need to drain the oil for this procedure. You can add it as many times as you wish. I have never had to do it more than once for a lightly carboned engine.

You can also do a shock treatment with RingFree or Seafoam. In this case, the whole bottle goes in a full tank and after the tank is used up the oil is change.

Which is more effective. Beats me.

After you lean it out you should not have to do this again.

If white is the result of all colors how can it be the lightest?
