Found my missing MPG`s 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I found em I found em
Did 127 miles today averaged 40 mpg`s at 70 mph and 1/3 of the trip was up to 5500 ft.
Took my carb apart today and found I had the needle on the 4th clip and not the 3rd as I thought with stock spacing.Been getting low to
mid 30`s.High 30`s to low 40`s I can deal with.
And the best part is idleing better and throttle responce thru out the
RPM range is great Hard to believe one clip space can make such a differance.I hope I never have to take the darnm thing off again

I said musky I hope i never have to take the darn thing off again

DJ needle at 3rd clip stock spacing
Mik 170 main jet,stock 35 pilot
PMS at 3 1/2
Thunder Mfg.Air Cleaner W/Amsoil replacement Microfiber filter
RoadHouse Doolies
Amsoil 20W/50 & Amsoil filter

Glad you found your MPg's. Slippery little things ain't they. It seems the norm is Barons needle in 3rd = extra washer, DJ needle in 3rd = stock stack. It don't seem like one groove is that big of a deal but it shows you how important it is to fine tweak. And to remember what groove you're in.

Gee, Ever thought of trying the 167.5. Might find some more MPG's.

Glad you found the magic setting Vegasdave. I got a feeling I'll be
re-jetting before the end of the season myself. The wife was wondering why I have to gas up after a week and a half of running (I do have a lead wrist sometimes ) . Figure I'm getting about 37 MPG or so right now. With the fuel pump gone it dogs at 75 and above. Oh goodie, another reason to spend money!

I figure with the weight I`ve added high 30`s to low 40`s is good.
The 97/98 hard tourdeluxe bags, royalstar brackets plus the
royalstar front and side bag guards. When ever i decide to paint
these puppies I`ll have to weight it all.Plus the added wind
drag.I`m happy
