How many miles from a tank are you getting? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Got my father in-laws Roadstar after asking over and over for the past year. He had installed V&H longshots and never gotten over 30 mpg. I put it in the shop and had them rejet the carb. I specifically asked them to call me amd let me know what was in their and what they intended on putting back in. After keeping the bike two weeks, I called and they told me my bike was on the rack and almost ready to go. Obviously they didn't call. Luckily I have it on the receipt that I requested they call me.

They took out a 175 and put back a 175 main; they also put in a 37 pilot. I was ticked, but decided to try it and hope for the best. It defintaely drives a little smoother; no lugging. It took some of my volume and power, but I'm willing to give a little to get my mpg's reasonable. I have no idea what they did with the needle. I'm usually very satisfied with these guys work but they totally dropped the ball on this project.

I have no idea of the jet make that came with the Roadstar, but I purchased a Cobra rejet kit through the dealer. I have the remaining parts, so I was hoping to get some ammunition from the guys on here for when I call them Monday morning.

I haven't quite finished my tank, but I'm sitting at 105 miles with less than a 1/4 tank. I may be able to squeeze 130 miles, but that's fuming it.

Anyone?

-Chad

There is no need to change from the stock jetting for just pipes. The 37 pilot will do nothing but eat your gas.

My father in-law had the carb rejetted when he had the pipes installed. Knowing my father in-law he probably told the guy he wanted it loud and fast.

I had every intention of telling the shop to put a 170 main and 35 pilot in. Since they didn't call me like I requested then I've got the same fuel economay as before. I may be able to squeeze another 10 miles out of a tank, but it's not where it's supposed to be, IMHO.

To save yourself a lot of headaches I would suggest you go back to the 182.5 mik main, the stock single groove needle, and the 35 pilot. You can get into rejetting if and when you go to a more open air kit.

I have a 35 jet in the Cobra kit I bought, but no 182.5. A 180 and 185. Any suggestions on single jet purchases?

2004 1700 13k on motor I average 43mpg and I check it every fill up 10k of those miles have been put on in the last year . I averaged 54mpg when I went to Leesburg rally (420 miles one day) I have always used gas without ethenol up until this week only BP doesn't have ethenol here in Florida now. I firmly believe if your MPG changes somethings not right.

I suggest the stock 182.5 Mikuni main. You want a 35 Mikuni pilot. You can't interchange Mik and Dyno jets by number. They use entirely different systems for numbering their jets.

Forgive my ignorance, but if I buy a Mikuni 182.5 and 35 jet only, will I be ok or do I need to repurchase the needle? I found a site that will sell the jets for about $10 a piece.
