THE 99 ROADSTARS RAN NO HOLE IN THE STARTER JET. MY 02'S P.O. PUT IN A 165DJ MAIN IN THE STARTER JET HOLE AND I HAD PROBLEMS. DOC SUGGESTED SOLDERING THE JET CLOSED WHICH I DID. I RUN A CLOSED STARTER JET, 35 PILOT, 167.5 MIK MAIN, NEEDLE ON 3.5 AND PMS 2 TURNS AND ACCELERATOR .5 TURN OUT OFF THE LOCKNUT. IT'S DOING GREAT MILAGE AND POWER. STARTS RIGHT UP NO PROBLEM.

The 99 was the only year with a hole in the starter jet. The rest of the years have no hole.

I just got back from about a 200 mile ride and it ran better than ever and got 48mpg on our fillup. It still seems a little rich but now I am afraid to mess with it . The 48mpg was a mix of 50-60 and 65-75mph lots of curves. This bike has never gotten that kind of milage on any trip. If it can do better though I am game.

My 05 has a hole in it. It is a 57.5.OOOPsnot that is the spare carb so it must have come off a 99.

Well all I can say is my 2001 runs good with a 45 in the starter jet even though it is not right but like I said don't know if I want to mess with it the way it is running. It may have other issues that makes it work.

I checked my "starter jet" while I was changing my main today. No hole. 2006 Midnight and he's running great. 170 Mikuni main, 35 pilot, clip on 3rd and about 3 turns out.
