OK, probably a dumb question, but I gotta ask...how do you work on the bike with it running (to check spark plugs) with the gas tank off, which you need to do to access the plugs, right? Only way I can figure is by attaching a long fuel line between the removed tank and the fuel petcock, no?

I remove the bulb from a turkey baster and stick the 'funnel' part into the hose that's removed from the petcock. I then prop it up vertically and fill it up with gas.

Don't run long but enough to 'fiddle'.

You can also take a plastic soda pop bottle and drill a hole in the cap slightly smaller than the size of the fuel line.

I built a "gas tank" for just such occasions like this years ago ,and still use it to this day for just such jobs. Here goes, took an empty ALL container (detergent),the one made from thick plastic, installed a used petcock from a dirt bike that I had laying around (drilled a small hole in the bottom of the bottle for the pick-up tube to slide in) , screwed the petcock on and sealed it with SEAL ALL , and now I have a small gas tank to connect to the bike when I need fuel. And you can hang it from the handlebars with a short strap. You can even put the top on it to hold down the fumes, and work for sometime, cause it holds a gallon of gas. .Dan

Necessity truly IS the mother of invention... (and for those of us old enough to remember, Frank Zappa was their leader! )

Thanks, guys!
