#96861 bofish (User) Junior Boarder Posts: 123 Shift with clutch 6 Months, 1 Week ago   I have always used the clutch lever when shifting and some fellow riders have said once you go to 2nd you dont need the clutch. Well for the most part it is habit because I can shift with out the clutch. My question is it hard on tranny or clutch to do so. Thanks in advance. Just about any manual tranny can be shifted without the clutch as long as you know what rpm's they'll engage at. If the clutch cable breaks and you have to, that is one thing. But to do it just to do it is pointless. I don't know whether it will hurt anything or not, and I don't want to find that it wasn't such a good idea when I'm out in the middle of nowhere about 40 miles from civilization.
