Went back to stock jet....... 5 Months ago
I went back to the stock 165 main jet and the stock needle and 2 and1/4 turns out on the pms .I then put 4 ounces of seafoam in the tank and headed for Indy. I put around 400 miles on her and she got between 38 and 40 mpg and that's about 15 mpg better than with the jet kit from vance and hines. My question is should I have left the adjustable needle from the aftermarket kit in or did I do the right thing by going back to the original. Keep in mind I had been getting 50+ mpg with stock pipes and no AIS. Now I'm running V/H Longshots everything else is stock.

You did right with the stock needle. You an always try leaning the PMS out 1/8 turn at a time and see what happens.

Thanks Musky , I just thought that would be the thing to do . It sure seems to still have good response whether just cruising or getting on it. By the way I had me a set of the monster baffles made 6" long cost less than $15.00 for them and the stainless bolts and they sound great.

One thing that people forget. Your mpg will go down in direct proportion to the loudness of your pipes. The better they sound the harder ya twist.
