does a velocity stack have some sort of air filter or is it just a straight shot into the intake manifold?

I've seen a few with a screen in them, but only a few.
Most are a straight shot with no filter.
And it goes into the carb first, not the manifold.

yeah I know it goes into the carb first. I an asking because I think the dirt would get into the engine that doesn't seem safe.

even those that have a mesh screen allow crap into the engine.

on a showbike, yes, but on a road bike they´re not a good thing for long engine life

I have the barons stack, I keep the rain sock on it to double as a filter, but my plan is to put on the sidewinder setup.
