oil leak 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
ok i put in the synthetic oil a few months ago and ran it for about 10 min and no leak. it sat for 2 months and nothing on the floor. now i ran it for 60 miles and 2 leaks from different areas, see pics. i put the right amount in as per the tech site. now i really feel like i have a harley. oil leak and all.
its comming out of the middle bolt on the cover- and from the middle of the frame area, i have not lifted it yet this is the whole post with replies. 170824.1 i thought it would be easier that going through the whole thing again.

Did you try and tighten those allen bolts to see if they were loose? Did you perhaps spill a little when you were doing the oil change and maybe this is run off from it? Wipe off the leaks , check to see if everything is tight and see what it does from there. BB

My guess would be you spilled some oil that was sitting in some hidden places and now that you rode the bike it's starting to run down. There isn't anything about changing to syn that would cause a leak that wasn't there before.

I would try that too, Once I did an oil change and had to leave it set for two weeks...nothing on the floor of the garage. Until, I took it out and ran it, came back and had oil dripping in about the same spot as you do. You'd be suprised where that oil will lay and not move till' that 60-70 m.p.h. wind gets in there to push it out. Did a valve adj. once also. Cleaned everything real good, ran it in the garage, no problem. No oil on the floor, then two days later I took it out and had oil all over the rear of my forks and front jug. Thought I had something loose, Cleaned it all off at a car wash...(low pressure). Never saw it again. I musta missed some oil on there somewhere when I put it back together. Good luck with it.

I had the same experience after I changed the oil. I filled the crank case through the port hole (won't ever do that again - no need - just fill through the oil tank). I guess I had spilled a little. It was around for a couple of weeks since the oil heats up on the outside and "creeps" into every crevis you can imagine. I suggest carry a dry rag around and just keep wiping things down when the engine is hot.
Another one that can fool you is the oil draining out of your clutch cable after having it lubricated. It apears as if oil is comming out of the clucth shaft under the leaver. I did the same thing just keep cleaning up the oil. Good luck.
