Fuel filter question... 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I am doing the fuel pump relocation tonight. How often does everyone replace their fuel filter, if ever? and if I should replace it...is the whole thing one unit or does it come apart?

I just test it every time I am in there. Blow into it the direction of flow, if its free and blows easily, its ok.

Much the same, I don't have a pump, so occasionally I will pull the connection to the carb and time the fuel flow into a jar..I have a mason jar that I marked with tape when I first put the new filter on. If it fills up to the tape line in the same amount of time, I figure Im good..

May be a dumb question, but when you blow into the fuel filter, are you introducing warm, moist air? Just wondering if that might lead to fuel flow problems when the weather gets cold...or do you use a compressor. Curious.

Thats a good point, but have not had any problems doing it for the majority of my life.

I relocated my fuel pump and left the fuel filter off...didn't really have room for it anywhere.

If your crankcase is still vented to the air box you will get a whole lot more moisture than a little hot air blown into the fuel line.
