There is one other option. In my case, my bike had the high dollar billet airbox cover from Yami and I liked the looks of it so I did the poormans BAK, but I did it my way.
I first installed a K&N replacement filter from Autozone (best price locally). Personally, I don't think performance wise there is a lot of difference in airflow once you do the rest of the mod. The way I vary from the usual Poormans BAK is that there is no need to drill holes (although I did initially), just remove the lower half of the airbox. I have pics on the following thread if you are interested.

You can't go wrong with any of these suggestions. Biggest differences are price! Good Luck!

YA-1704 fits the 1700 Roadies and YA-1699 for the 1600.
I had been playing with the jetting and drilling the airbox but after I took off the lower half of the airbox I went ahead and ported the manifold and went to a 170 Mik main and stock 35 pilot and ended up with 41mpg (riding hard) and 45mpg (riding normal... well, as normal as I can). I could possibly go to a 167.5 and adjust the PMS more and do better.

I had the hyper charger and changed it out this year to BAK. The HC was just too finicky, in my area with elevations and moisture there seemed to be lots of problems I thought it looked great at the time but performed poorly.

I had the HC too and had trouble getting it jetted right. I got the BAK and all is good. But took me a while. Musky says I just like playing with my carb.

Those of you with the BAK that don't like getting oil on your pipes might be interested in one of these. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaam.aspx
It is a dry filter for the BAK, the part number is EAam24. I've got one in my BAK and it works great.
