Pop Rivet, I thought you were talking about the OUTSIDE physical lever. I don't think I want to open her up and look around. I think this is something for the dealership to look at. Not the direction I want to go.

Did you check the spring on the lever to make sure it didn't break?
There's also a small return spring also.
Greysnake, what spring "on the lever" and where is it suppose to be? I understand "on the lever" but where on the lever, towards the front, back, connected to another part of a frame/holder?

I just put the parts layout so you could see that there is no spring on the foot shift lever...but make sure the shaft off the foot lever is well greased ...where it goes thru the frame and dirt isnt the culprit here

Re:Shift Lever 4 Months ago
How long ago did you change your oil? And how many miles do you have since the oil change?......This same thing happened to my wifes Suzuki, I'm guilty of procrastinating her oil change but I didn't think 4,500 miles was too bad, the oil level was fine, but I changed the oil and the shifter was fine after that. She has since driven her bike over 2,000 miles some on road trip and alot in stop and go traffic and has not had anymore problems......Hope this helps ya.

I'll take a look at it tomorrow. It's 10:40pm Houston, Tx time and I'm a little tired. Also, I'd like to thank all who posted. You guys are the reason RSC is the place to go for advise and suggestions. Thanks all!

Kinda early in the process to be frustrated. It just happened today. The pictures show you where the springs are. Have you tried lubing the moving parts? Maybe disconnect the shift linkage at the foot shifter and work the linkage by hand. If it doesn't work right you will know it's not in the foot shifter. You should try at least 3 things before frustration sets in.

You should try at least 3 things before frustration sets in. I'm a foreman at a machine shop. I worked six days last week and I think all six of them were MONDAYS. Working with grown men and having to "put out fires" so to speak because of all the soap operas that go on with so called grown men, then my beautiful RED roadie acting up.......... yeah, I'm a little frustrated. Wow, that feels much better!! You're a Road Star adviser and a physiologist! Thanks Musky for letting me vent!

Re:Shift Lever 4 Months ago
Might try lubing where the shift lever goes through the floorboard bracket, a buddy's 05 R* all of the sudden got stiff and would not return to normal position after shifting and he called me thinking it was internal trans problem and after doing the process of elimination like removing shifter rod I found that everything moved freely except the (heel toe) shifter it was binding, so I put some lube on it and moved up and down a few times and it freed up.
Good luck and I hope your fix is as simple.

Bo
