My R* wouldn't downshift 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I was on a ride last weekend. Riding 2 up, with a large pack on back. If you are familiar with the hills in Duluth, MN, you know they are quite steep. We were going up hill in stop and go traffic, to the top of Radio Hill, to check out some observation tower. It was pretty hot out, around 85 or so. We then came down the hill, using 2nd gear and brakes. We got on the highway and the bike upshifted fine. We crossed into Wisconsin, and when it came time downshift for a corner, the Star wouldn't go below 4th gear. I had to pull on the linkage while working the shifter with my foot. I was able to get it to jam in to a lower gear a few times and make it to our destination that ight. The next morning, everything was fine. Do you think the clutch got overheated or anything. All adjustments seems to be normal.

Clutch could have been heated up and that reduces the clearance when disengaged. Double check the adjustment, start at the hand grip, there should only be about the thickness of a Nickel slack in the line. I see a lot of scoots with way more than that because the rider likes the friction point closer to the grip. The issue is that you may not be getting all the travel possible when you pull the clutch in to disengage.

The same thing happened to my R* in June during a parade, once it cooled down it was fine, had to adjust the clutch a bit but then worked great.
