Roadstar w/ Speedstar IV kit 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Sold my VTX 1300c today. Cash in hand and no bike, dangerous. Anyway I had test rode a 05 Roadstar with 3000 miles and Speedstar IV kit. The thing moves and sounds great. No hesitations or flat spot. Talked to the previos owner and he seems to be very knowledgeable and spared no expense when adding extras. My question is what reliabity problems or or maintenance problems could I expect. I got the stealer down to 10500, which with the extra chrome and upgradesl, also had the fins on the engine specially cut(kind of like a diamond look. Is this a good deal. First Roadstar, so any input would b appreciated.

If he had the full Stage IV kit installed that around $5 K without labour.

So the bike is now $5500.

Diamond cut jugs plus extra chrome ... probably another $1 k

So you're down to $4500

Sounds good to me.

Don't know about reliability as I don't know anyone who laid out that kind of cash for the Stage IV.

He traded for and is waiting on the 09 vmax as well as he bought a raider to tide him over, at least that was my understanding. I just have nothing to compare to because that was the first Roadstar I've been on, but it moves down the rode nicely and the pipes sound great. Probably going tomm. to get it.

If you've been on that one then don't ride a stock bike ... you'll be disappointed.

I'm sure i could put on my own pipes and BAK if I got a new 07, would the bike still have some pep. Just for reference I had a hyper/mod type on my VTX 1300 and it ran good, not like this roadstar though

Stock vs Stage IV is two different bikes.

Stock . HP 65/ T 95
Stage - HP 95/ T 110

If you add pipes and BAK it wakes up the bike but the Stage IV add a whole lot of 'extras'.
